There is the link to PERMANENTLY delete your facebook account. Your information is wiped off the server. It takes two weeks of complete inactivity on your part one you have clicked delete (they don't like doing it so if you click on a "like"button on an external website they will class it as account activity and reinstate it) but the option is there. I have used it myself and also passed it on to friends, it works.
