How does facebook know that I know this person?

My coworker comes up in 'People You May Know' box on my Facebook profile. We have no common information in our Facebook profiles (even the current city info is empty in both of our profiles) no work information entered for both of us. We have no mutual friends. Only 3 people in my office of 5 have Facebook profiles, 2 of us are not friends with him or even with his friends (so no mutual friends of friends either) How does Facebook comes up with a connection between us? Do not say coincidence because I checked all the people in my "People You May Know" list and everyone but him has at least one mutual friend with me. Seriously, how can this happen? Would it be because he checks my profile and/or searches my name (just a thought) Does anyone know, how facebook figured this out? I am very curious

It could be maybe you both following one person. Or you both followed one person at one time!



Then there might be the chance that your IP address is similar to that of your "friend" from the same city?

If you have ever searched for them by name, or if you used "friend finder" via your email - you may have your coworker's email address in your address book, I've seen suggestions based on that.

#1 That person is added in your email. (Not your case)



#2 That person has an additional email of an email that was added in your email.



#3 Facebook as I have heard, It searches for users who have less friends, and try to make a friendship.





Remember, all of these options I'm not sure about them. I just hear about it.

well the google bot is a robot that find all info online so maybe if you were friends on a dif site then the google bot will add it to a folder of all your online info
