Question:
In Facebook, is it possible to keep statuses hidden from certain friends?

I want to add my family to my facebook, although I don't want them to see all my status updates. I heard that groups can be used to show only select friends. Is this true? And can someone give me as much information on how to do this?

Is it possible to have only certain groups see statuses by default, or must groups be selected manually by default?
Will the friends in groups know that they're being separated from everyone else? Or is there any way so that my profile won't reveal they're in a separate category?

Otherwise, I guess I'll create a second account. Thanks in advanced, and PLEASE take your time writing out every option available about how to do this!

yes, that is all possible - you just set up your custom lists

then use the audience selector for your status

I believe so. When you post a status you can change how your status is visible to. Look in privacy options.

certain, you could conceal your updates from particular people. less than your status replace field, there's a key lock icon. click on it and then elect personalize and from there you could upload people to the conceal record.

Yes. I'm not sure exactly how, go to the help center and they'll give you instructions.
