I had the same problem. Here's how you fix it

1.Download Trend Micro Hijackthis

http://download.cnet.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html

2.Open the application click "None of the above, Just start the program"

3.Click "Scan"

4.Look carefull at the results and tick the box where it says Host 79.106.2.131 Facebook or something related

5.Click "Fix Checked"

and your done

Enjoy facebooking again :P

1. Do you have facebook saved as a favorite or bookmarked? Try typing it in. (if that works delete the bookmark or favorite)

2. Edit your computers host file in notepad. Host files can redirect you to different web sites. (c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) (delete everything except "127.0.0.1 localhost")

3. Your computer has an infection. Use system restore to restore it to an earlier time.

4. Back up your data, reformat your hard drive and re-install windows.

yeah looks like spyware. usually when stuff like that happens your hosts file has been changed.

You can fix it yourself, but unless you get rid of the spyware itself, it'll just keep changing back.

I suggest running a spyware scan, and fix your hosts file at C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\ to only contain:

# 127.0.0.1 localhost

# ::1 localhost

after the line:

# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.

if the second one isn't there...that's not a big deal, but it should be obvious that anything relating to facebook.com in that file doesn't belong there.

Liz,

Facebook is getting hit constantly with Hackers, and Viruses, they do a job of trying to keep up with it, but it is beating them, Shut down the internet, and shut off system restore, then shut down internet connection after you update your antivirus program. then run a Thorough Scan for viruses, just to be safe. Good luck
