What exactly is the point of "pokeing" on facebook?

Not only can they see your profile, but it's basically a way for people to make others notice them.
This works best when you don't know the person too well, so you poke them and let them know you're on Facebook. And then they'll add you if they feel like it.
I guess it's a good start if you want to get to know someone you barely know

It's lame, something to do, then the poked victim can see the pokies profile, a neat little way to meet new people....I guess.
