Yesterday, I set up a new facebook account. I searched for a few people and when i went to view there profiles/page I couldnt. I got to work this morning and signed in with my original sign in and was able to view there profiles without being added as friends. I then deleted my old account and found that when I signed in with my new account I now cannot view there page. My old account was set up last June. Has something changed since then? I know some people have there accounts private but these werent the case. Is there something I need to change in my settings?

It's privacy. If you are not someone's friend, then you cannot view their profile if their privacy settings are set that certain way.

This is because you were friends with the people on the old account so you can see their whole profile. People who aren't friends can only see limited profiles of each other (if anything at all).

To look into these settings to change them, click settings at the top, then privacy settings. In there, you have many option to allow/disallow people to see certain things.

Edit after additional details:

This may have something to do with networks and who belongs to them. For instance, I am in three networks: Rowan University, Princeton University, and South Jersey. People in the Rowan network can see my profile, but people in Princeton and South Jersey can't unless they are my friends. If your husband and your profiles are from different networks, then it can make sense that some people are grayed out and some are blue.

It's another privacy setting people can set.

Okay...I'm not sure if the people are answering your question as you are meaning to ask it. I'm having a similar issue...does this make sense?

I log in under my account...NOBODY is in blue..whether I know them or not.

I log in under my husbands account (which he's had longer than me) and there are people in blue. SO...people turn blue for him but not for me. And these are strangers so there is no 'friends' issue. These are just people with public profiles.

Why is that?
