I have been locked out of my Facebook for 3 weeks. I have called 3rd party Facebook help no luck. I sent my government issued I.D 5 times. No response from Facebook. Went through the wrongly disabled nonsense my account was not disabled. Honestly I am fed up. I have important information on there regarding work and school assignments I have no access to. It's wrong of them to do this.

The Facebook employees have mania or have completely gone out of their mind.

First, This is a social media and there are a lot of sickos out there. Why would you want to give your real name(especially if it is uncommon)? Do you want some mental retard to hunt you down using (i.e. White Pages)or any other internet site to look up where you live? Common, answer me! I certainly do not want for someone to know where I exactly live, my phone number , etc.

Second, as long as yo do not spam or harass people on the Facebook, there's NO REASON to lock the account and ask for the ID. Even if one doesn't have too many Facebook friends it doesn't mean that the account is fake.You can use Aliases. You do not do anything wrong.

Third, giving out your ID on the internet is SIMPLY CRAZY! Do you know what your information is being used for? Do you know if facebook account hasn't been hacked and the hacker is asking you to provide your personal information? Ask yourself how your information is going to be used? By Whom? There is WARNING-DO NOT give out your personal information on the internet.

Next time, they will ask you to enter your Social Security or your Bank account, will you do it? This is "freedom" this is worst then a Soviet Union.

Locked out last night, followed the process of questions, verifying friends, confirming personal details asked to submit a code sent to my phone, no code sent. finally asked to send gov Id. Done that, no response.

I was in the middle of a session about 3 days ago, had been logged on for roughly an hour, when all of a sudden I get a pop-up message telling me that my session had logged out and I needed to log back in. I was a bit surprised, as I have been logged in all day before and never received this message. I logged in anyways. Checked everything beforehand to make sure it wasn't some mysterious virus or phishing attempt. Was still on the verified Facebook website. Upon logging back in, I get a page telling me I had been temporarily locked out due to security reasons. Whaat?! The only option they are giving me to unlock my account is to supply them with a copy of a government issued ID.



Facebook should not be requiring a copy of my ID when they cannot even give me a bona fide reason for WHY they locked me out. I have received no email from them concerning this matter.



I have done quite a lot of searches only to learn that many people have been getting locked out for no given reason. Some who have given their ID were still locked out after the fact.



In my case, I am using my real name but this name is not on my ID. In most states, if you use a different first name in your daily living this becomes a legal version of your name. I've been called this name ever since I was 18 months old when my parents realized they did not like the name they placed on my birth certificate. After this entire Facebook fiasco I am going to my local county clerk next week to finally get the ball rolling on having my REAL NAME legally placed on my ID.



I still will refuse to give FB a copy of my ID. If they refuse to give me a reason for why they locked me out in the middle of a session, then their site has given me no choice but to walk away. This is BS. Nobody should be singled out with no given reason for the lockout.



As someone else here stated, do NOT give FB your ID. They are not being upfront for their reasons behind the lockout.



A few folks have told me they think FB singled me out because my given name sounded fake. If this were the case, since when does FB make a judgment call on someone's name and lock you out solely because it sounds fake? In my case, there are at least three other females with my name in my small town alone. If it has come to this, I call discrimination. Facebook isn't even worth the time it took for me to type all this. If they do not unlock my account this week, I will wipe my hands clean of them and go elsewhere. Which is what I should have done long ago.

A lot of people (including myself) were locked out this weekend. Do you have a Instagram account? In my case, I believe it has something to do with that account. Facebook owns them as of Dec & I share it with my 12 1/2 yr old. I'm guessing they want to make sure everyone is over 13. I don't think it's fair to lock me out of my Facebook account .. a quick peak at my profile would show I am over 13. I blocked info. on my ID and I uploaded it .... no response as to when this will be resolved. I also sent an email to my Local News 10 and News 12 hoping they would investigate it. Still nothing! My friends & family can still see my account and post on my wall. So much for a "social" network!

I have done everything that Facebook have requested, reset password, answered security questions and provided photo id along with name and date of birth an I'm still locked out! Today to add insult to injury I get an email from Facebook telling I have a number of notifications and to log in to see them..... I WOULD IF I COULD!!!!!!

With all the money Mark Z. makes per minute. He needs to stop being so cheap and higher people to take care of his ID requests ASAP. I've been locked out for a few days now. I submitted my ID a few times, with no response. This is bullshit. I have gotten at least 7 fake friend requests. These requests don't have any friends. It's pretty simple to identify them. But they mess with accounts that give them no reason to be messed with. If there not going to fix there shitty business practices. I hope A new company starts up causing them to loose all there facebook followers. Fake facebook pages don't consist of 100's or 1000's of friends.

I too have been locked out with no reason why, I use a different name on my profile but my real name is in the email I use connected to the account, I have been on fb since it first began and many people know me by the name on my profile and as the law states if you are commonly known by a name then it is accepted as a real legal name, fb state that they need government issued ID so my friends know who I am, well fb given that my friends list is made up of people who know me by this name then they know who I am, no one is permitted by law to ask for proof of ID without a legitimate reason, and if there is question of doubt then surely fb can afford to employ intelligent people who can review profile actions and see clearly the passage of time and reality! I have sent endless messages to fb telling them exactly this and if they don't get this rectified a.s.a.p then they can shove it, whilst I do not need f to live my life it is a means and in some cases the only means others can contact me, I do a lot of charity work and I am involved in many projects and fb has been a brilliant way of connecting all these things, now I am not so sure they are worth my time and effort!

I have had the same thing happen to me this past Sunday afternoon 4:30 and then Instagram a couple hours later. I submitted my ID and still have heard as of today. Facebook is an everyday thing for me and my FB addiction is quite bad at the moment. I have tried to find a phone number, etc and nothing. I too was asked/required to submit an ID in order to login. I'm 46, been using FB for years without issues, only post and comment appropriately. I went ahead and made a scan of my Drivers License (blocking out everything but name, birthday, and photo). But, this is where I'm super frustrated... Every time I select "upload", I get an immediate response saying "Could not validate the attachment"!!!! So, even tho it's a jpeg file, I can't even get it to load. my daughter was locked out this past Monday 21st....no reason either. Asking her to submit an id too. I also am not comfortable uploading her passport id. I sent emails asking why out of the blue? She is a good student, athlete, cannot see why? Very frustrating and no answers from them. Can she just start another one? This is very strange.

Same thing just happened to me... was logged in, then BAM, you've been logged out... log back in to find they are asking for photo ID..



Seems to me Facebook is using this to get people's name, address, photo, and driver's license number so they can sell the information to advertisers..



I'll NOT be uploading a photo ID, or any other sort of personal documentation. They are a web service, nothing more, i'll not be returning, i'm moving to something else.. ello perhaps.

It's asking for a mobile number code or a iD (When I send for a mobile code it says my mobile number is already be used for another account, which it isn't! - So the iD is my only option now.) I just discovered that my account was locked for no reason. The are asking me for ID. I will not provide my personal information, period. They blocked my profile couple days ago, which I used for many years. It was not with my real name, because I DO NOT TRUST THEM and do not want to provide anything about me, including my private photos. I used that account only to contact with like-minded people and groups, not for private purpose.

They asked me to provide an ID. OF COURSE THAT IS A VIOLATION OF INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS AND A GREAT RISK TO HAVE OUR IDENTITY STOLEN, NOT TO MENTION THAT THEY MAKE FILES WITH PRIVATE DATA OF ALL USERS THERE!

I opened another account, and two days after that, they blocked that one, too, with a same request. It was difficult to find any way to contact them about that, but I found how and where to do that, and I got a response from one brainwashed Facebook staff, repeating the same thing all over again, that I must provide my ID! Does not mater what I answered, he repeated the same.

I AM DONE WITH THAT "SOCIAL MEDIA" WHICH REAL OWNERS ARE CIA AND NSA!!!

Jay.....I received the exact same email as you on Tues, Jan 22. I didn't suspect anything when it was just asking for my name, email and birthday for verification. So, I entered the information expecting to be able to sign on. And then, as you know, it said you will receive an email. That email did not come until 4 hours later. Then the email stated exactly as you described. I was baffled as to why I should send them my govt photo ID. What right do they have to ask for that? I posted through my husbands facebook what was going on and everyone of our friends said DO NOT send them photo id. A friend of mine that is a detective said "ABSOLUTELY DO NOT SEND THEM YOUR ID, THEY WILL TAKE IT AND OPEN CREDIT CARDS UNDER YOUR NAME". So, I sit here 2 days later continuing to research the issue. I've sent several emails to facebook, tried to call the nonsense phone number, and I have only gotten one response back stating

My account was reported to FB by muslim members of a group I started for dialogue between Christians and muslims. Some muslims will not accept that I used to be muslim then converted to Jesus, so they have reported my account as using a fake name to FB. I uploaded my ID this morning and hope to be restored soon. If FB is unwilling to restore me to continue admin'ing my group, then I have also requested my admins to make me an admin using an alternate profile. Fingers crossed...
